Environmental Impact Policy
Consolidated will seek practical means of characterising, quantifying and monitoring all aspects of its impact on the environment. Such impacts include emissions to air, discharges to water, disposal of solid and other wastes, use of land, water, fuels, energy and other natural resources, and discharges of thermal energy, noise, odour, dust, vibration and visual impact. Consolidated will strive to ensure that it meets all legal and other regulatory requirements and codes of practice, including relevant consents, permits, and authorisations from regulators and local authority.
The company will seek to minimise its emissions to the environment, including solid waste, air emissions, and liquid effluent. We will explore with local agencies the least environmentally harmful method of disposing of specific categories of waste, and encourage recycling and re-use wherever sensible.
Consolidated will continue to exert downward pressure on the consumption of energy and other natural resources and will explore the most effective ways of doing this. We will seek to ensure that its procurement policies take account of its environmental policy, and seek statements and records of environmental performance from its suppliers of goods and services. We will also encourage suppliers to avoid unnecessary packaging wherever possible and will continue to monitor safety performance in all areas in order to reduce environmental risks.
We will continue to work with the local government and other agencies to help reduce the environmental impact of the vehicular transport its activities generate. It will also encourage the use of public transport wherever possible. Our office manager will maintain our buildings and grounds in a manner that avoids adverse environmental impact and, wherever possible, enhances the natural environment and encourages biodiversity.
Consolidated accepts, as part of its wider mission, the need ‘to instil in people of all ages, through formal and informal education and training, the concepts of sustainable development and responsible global citizenship; and to develop, renew and reinforce their capacity to address environmental and development issues throughout their lives, both at home and at work’. Consolidated undertakes to work with other organisations to encourage the wider acceptance of the need for education in areas of environmental concern.
